A full-time postdoctoral position will be available at The Laboratory of Cognitive Psychology in Marseille (Provence, southern France) from April 2014 (20 months). The postdoctoral fellow will conduct acquisitions and analyses of cerebral MRI images (anatomical, diffusion & resting state images) in olive baboons. Within the project LangPrimate "Gestures, cognition and hemispheric specialization in primates: Implications for the origins of language", the main purpose of this research is to investigate the neuroanatomical correlates of behavioral asymmetries for praxis and communicative behaviors in baboons within a comparative framework between human and nonhuman primates.

Hiring Organization:
Laboratory of Cognitive Psychology, CNRS / Aix-Marseille University, Brain & Language Research Institute, Marseille, France

The main research tasks are:
(1) Supervising brain MRI acquisitions in baboons (anatomical, diffusion & resting state images);
(2) Developing and running species-specific image processing pipelines (registration, segmentation, creation of a template, etc.) based on existing human-specific pipelines.
(3) Running morphometry analyses using softwares such as BrainVisa or FSL for measuring structural brain variations at different levels (voxel, ROI, sulcus)
(4) Supervising the work of master students in neurosciences.
(5) Communicating about the findings (publications, communications)
(6) Participating potentially to other lines of research within the LangPrimate's research team.
